Throughout their time at Fosse Way Academy, pupils are encouraged to investigate, experiment and refine their ideas using a broad range of materials, techniques and processes. Drawing forms the foundation of our curriculum and is woven throughout children's artistic development, enabling them to observe closely, communicate ideas and build confidence across all areas of art. As pupils progress through the school, they develop their knowledge of colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space while learning about significant artists, designers, architects and craft makers from a range of cultures, time periods and artistic movements.

We recognise that art is personal and celebrate the individuality of each pupil's creative journey. Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to build knowledge and skills progressively from the Early Years through to Year 6, ensuring all pupils meet or exceed the expectations of the National Curriculum. By the time they leave Fosse Way Academy, children will have developed the confidence, technical skills and artistic understanding to create purposeful artwork, evaluate creative work using appropriate vocabulary and appreciate the impact of art and design within their own lives and across the wider world.
