Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)
At Fosse Way Academy, we believe that PSHE plays an important role in preparing pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life. Our curriculum develops pupils’ confidence, independence and self-worth, equipping them with the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to make positive choices and contribute confidently to school and wider society.
Our carefully planned curriculum develops pupils’ understanding of healthy and safer lifestyles, relationships, rights and responsibilities, citizenship and the importance of respecting differences. Pupils learn about how society is organised and governed, experience democracy and develop an understanding of the values and principles that underpin life in modern Britain. Through discussion, reflection and real-life contexts, pupils are encouraged to consider their choices, understand the impact of their actions and develop positive relationships with others.
By the time they leave Fosse Way Academy, pupils will have developed the knowledge, confidence and life skills to look after their physical and emotional wellbeing, build healthy relationships and participate positively in a diverse society. They will understand their responsibilities as citizens and be equipped to make informed, respectful and responsible choices as they move into the wider world.
