Chair of Governors
Helen has 14 years Primary teaching experience and now works for the charity The Joy Foundation where she delivers Collective Worship, teaches values and mentors children across 10 primary schools around Lincoln. She is married to Dave and they have a son and daughter, both of whom attend Fosse Way. In her spare time, she is involved in singing and the kids work at her church, enjoys reading and getting outside with her family. Helen joined the governing body in 2015 and became Chair in November 2016.
Vice Chair of Governors
I was co-opted as a governor at Fosse Way Academy as I bring specific skills and experience to the governing body from working for a national children's charity. Other responsibilities include being the vice chair of the governing body and link governor for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). I strongly believe that students of all ages should have access to free, high quality education in a safe and supportive environment. I live locally, my son attended Fosse Way Academy and I am privileged to be a Governor at Fosse Way Academy.
Ex Officio Governor
I joined Fosse Way in 2001 as the Year 5/6 Team Leader, later becoming Deputy Headteacher before taking on the Headship in 2013. Previous to this I taught at two other local schools across all age ranges from Reception to Year 6. I was also an Advanced Skills Teacher working across the county to support my teaching colleagues in dozens of settings. These experiences enable me to understand education from many viewpoints.
I have four children - all boys - so also undertsand the challenges and pressures entailed in raising a family. Away from school I enjoy sport - cycling, rugby and football particularly, as well as reading. Like many parents, these days I spend most of my time watching my children engage in sports rather than participating myself, however.
Ben has been working in primary education for nearly 20 years in various capacities and currently leads eLearning and digital technology for a large multi academy trust. A former teacher here at Fosse Way, as a Google Trainer and Microsoft Master Trainer Ben takes a keen interest in our use of digital tools and technology integration. Not just technology however - Ben is a firm believer in a well rounded and balanced curriculum. A CEOP Ambassador, Ben is our Safeguarding Governor and is on the Standards Sub-Committee.
